MCCI joins EPSON Technology Partner Programme Support for USB On-The-Go Developments
Munich, 10 February 2004: EPSON EUROPE ELECTRONICS

GmbH announces MCCI to be a new partner in the EPSON Technology Partner Programme.
Within this partnership both parties will profit from synergy effects by bringing together EPSON's S1R72005 USB On-The-Go controller with the USB software development experience and Catena 1630 USB On-The-Go Development Platform from MCCI. The Catena 1630 can be used to develop USB software in a specific number of operating system.
Mobile computing and communication devices will get the most important device for the end users, as an increasing demand for connectivity to several other devices will arise. With the USB On-The-Go, a supplement to the USB 2.0 specification, the end user will be able to connect the portable device on the one hand to a PC for synchronisation and on the other hand to a mass storage or printer device, which was not possible with the former USB 1.1 or 2.0 standard.

With the partnership a full support for the European mobile phone manufacturers is ensured. According to Dieter Liesabeths, Director of IC/QD Division at EPSON EUROPE ELECTRONICS GmbH, "MCCI Inc. Catena 1630 is ideal for the use in early prototyping and for evaluating On-the-Go system architectural concepts before product hardware is available. With Catena 1630 we can provide customers a development kit for a quick integration of the S1R72005 in the system."

2"The S1R72005 provides a very effective single-port solution for USB On-The-Go products. The architecture reuses hardware resources and registers for host and device operation in an innovative way. This lets systems using the S1R72005 address the key use models for the highest volume mobile devices". said Terry Moore, President of MCCI. "MCCI joining the EPSON Technology Partner program will help our customers get the best possible support at the system level."
